Inmate Johnson had been in TCSO custody since 04/20/2024 on three (3) charges, Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence, Evading Arrest or Detention, and Possession C/S PG1 =4G<200G. Inmate Johnson died on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at approximately 0957 hours at John Peter Smith Hospital, 1500 S. Main, Tarrant County, Texas 76102. Inmate Johnson had refused to leave his cell for a cell search and began to fight and kick detention officers. He was sprayed with OC gas and became unresponsive on his way to be decontaminated. He was transported via ambulance to the hospital and pronounced by the doctor. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified and took possession of Inmate Johnson. The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation. Ranger Dendy [email protected] has been assigned the death investigation (TCSO report 2024-05248).
