On September 17, 2026, officers responded to a suicidal person's call near 1702 W Lovers Lane, Arlington,
Texas. Once on scene, residents told officers the subject was now making homicidal statements. Officers
entered the home and heard arguing in a bedroom of the residence. Once the door was opened, one subject
was removed from the bedroom, and the decedent brandished a knife toward the officer. The officer gave
verbal commands for the decedent to drop the knife, but he failed to comply. As the officer attempted to back
out of the room and holster his firearm, the decedent charged at the officer with the knife. The officer raised
his firearm and discharged two rounds at close range toward the decedent. The decedent fell to the ground,
and the officer stepped inside, securing the knife. Additional officers, as well as a self-reported EMT who lived
in the residence, entered the room and began performing life-saving measures. Medical personnel arrived on
scene and transported the decedent to Medical City Arlington Hospital in Arlington, Texas. The subject was
pronounced deceased.
