Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- Summary: On 7/5/2022 at approximately 7:02am officers responded to a welfare concern/suspicious subject in a vehicle behind 2120 Merriman st., Port Neches, Texas. Upon officers arrival they encountered the described suspect vehicle and a registration return showed the vehicle to be stolen. The complainant advised the officers, through the dispatcher, that the suspicious person was known to law enforcement and a wanted person. Prior to making contact with the suspect, he began to drive off to evade arrest. The suspect then crashed his vehicle into one of the officer's patrol vehicle and exited the vehicle pointing a handgun.
