Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On Sunday, May 1, 2022, at approximately 1:24 AM, the Officer was parked in the parking lot of the Alamo
Cafe, located in the 10060 Block of IH 10 E, San Antonio, TX 78230, when he was approached by a naked
female, later identified as the decedent. The female leaned against the driver's door of the officer's patrol
vehicle. The officer un-docked his bodyworn camera, attached it to his vest, and activated the camera. The
officer exited his vehicle. The female began making unusual remarks such as "I'm trying to wake up". The
female was speaking in a low voice which the officer was having difficulty understanding. The Officer ordered
the female to sit down on the curb next to his vehicle and the female complied. The female provided a name
and date of birth to the officer which was relayed to dispatch. The female then stood up and began asking the
officer "will you come with me?" and took several steps away from the officer. The officer grabbed the
female's forearm to prevent her from leaving and the female began to attempt to twist out of the officer's

grasp. The Officer placed the female into handcuffs, behind her back, and double locked the handcuffs. As
the Officer was double locking the handcuffs, the female slumped forward several times and the officer
believed that the female was loosing consciousness. The officer assisted her to the ground and requested
emergency medical services to make the scene to evaluate the female's medical condition. The officer asked
the female if she had ingested any substances and the female replied "Shrooms". The officer notified dispatch
to update emergency medical services that the female may have ingested "psychedelic mushrooms". The
female, who was in a seated position, requested to lay down and proceeded to lay down on her back and
remained silent. The female then lifted herself into a seated position and asked "what's going to happen?",
and then stood upright. The Officer informed the female that he believed that she needed to go to the hospital
and that he would contact her family. The officer again grabbed hold of the female's arm to prevent her from
fleeing or falling and the female stated that she would sit down. As the female began to sit, she immediately
began to flee on foot, running north towards the highways south-bound access road. The female continued to
run north-bound with with vehicles moving at full speed and swerving to avoid hitting her. The officer gave
chase and observed thee female climb over a barrier separating the highway from the access road and
proceed to run into the south-bound traffic. The officer continued to to pursue the female and notified dispatch
that the female had fled and run onto the highway. The female stopped on the highway as vehicles swerved
to avoid her and she walked toward the shoulder. The officer verbally ordered the female to come towards
him and exit the roadway. As the officer got closer to the female, she starting running to the center of the
highway. The female climbed over the center divider of the highway and continued to run onto the
north-bound lanes of traffic. The officer lost sight of the female due to the highway barrier. Once safe to cross
the highway, the officer crossed and observed the female laying in the far right-hand lane of the north-bound
traffic. The female was motionless and appeared to have a head injury as well as a laceration to her thigh that
did not appear to be bleeding. Vehicles were still approaching at a high rate of speed, so the officer utilized
his flashlight to re-direct traffic. He then notified dispatch of the location. Once there was a safe break in
traffic, the officer grabbed the female by her uninjured leg and pulled her out of the roadway. The officer
observed that emergency medical services were arriving on scene and he began performing chest
compressions. The officer noted that the females ribs were not providing any substantial resistance and
moved with abnormal ease. The officer was relieved from chest compression by the emergency medical
personnel. The female was pronounced deceased on the scene.
