Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On June 2, 2022, Garland Police Officers were dispatched to 6222 Broadway Boulevard, Garland, Dallas County, Texas, (America's Great Value Inn) on a Concern For Welfare call. Private Investigators (Criminal Investigation Unit) called requesting assistance in arresting a subject with 6 Sexual Assault of a Child Under 14 warrants. Private Investigators confronted the subject, who was armed with a handgun, inside room 224. Private Investigators and the wanted subject exchanged gunfire, resulting in one of the investigators being struck and incapacitated inside the room. Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- Garland Officers formulated a plan to rescue the private investigator and made entry into room 224. Upon officers' entry into the room, they encountered the wanted subject who was armed with a handgun. The wanted subject fired his handgun, at which time, officers almost simultaneously returned fire, striking the wanted subject.
