Yes, mark which Under Restraint: restraint devices were used Type of restraint Type of Restraint: Handcuffs Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On July 13, 2025, at 3:50 p.m., the 41-year-old suspect entered the CVS at 5601 Lemmon Ave and began acting erratically, shouting "where's my money," and spitting on an employee's face before leaving. He then went to the 7-11 next door and assaulted the clerk and took money from the till. The clerk fled outside, and the suspect followed her and strangled her until some passersby intervened and held him until officers arrived. The suspect was lying on his back when officers arrived. He was rolled and handcuffed and then sat up. The suspect appeared unable to sit up on his own, and officers requested DFR. His condition worsened, and DFR began chest compressions shortly after arrival. He was then transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital and pronounced deceased. Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 6
