Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
Officers were dispatched to the offense location after the suspect, who was walking around outside, pointed a
long gun at a neighbor. Upon officer arrival, officers briefly made contact with the suspect at the offense

location, but the suspect refused to comply. The suspect then discharged his weapon several times inside his
residence, one discharge exiting the back of the residence in the direction of a concealed officer. No officers
discharged their weapons at that point. A negotiator team and tactical team were then requested to respond.
The suspect's elderly father exited the residence; however, the suspect refused to comply and continued to
barricade inside the residence. At different points the suspect was observed walking around the residence
with a shotgun, but never reciprocated any communications from law enforcement. Approximately five hours
later, after a search warrant was signed, two noise flash diversion devices were deployed outside the
residence. Shortly thereafter a less lethal impact projectile was used to break a rear window of the residence.
The suspect then emerged from the front door of the residence, and while still holding the shotgun, yelled,
"You damaged my property!" The suspect then raised his shotgun towards officers, at which point the sniper
(deployed in the turret of the BearCat) discharged his rifle weapon system, striking the suspect. Tactical
officers and a fire department tactical paramedic then began administering first aid until the suspect was
transported to an area hospital, where he later died.
