On August 29, 2025, San Antonio Police Department officers were dispatched to 800 N Cherry following

the location. Upon arrival, officers quickly contained the individual—later identified as the decedent—inside
his residence. Officers initiated verbal communication using a public address system, instructing the decedent
to exit the home. Despite repeated commands, he refused to comply. Moments later, the decedent emerged
from a side door holding a shotgun. He pointed his finger at the officers, manipulated the firearm, and then
raised the gun, pointing the barrel in the officer’s direction. Perceiving an imminent threat to their safety and
the safety of nearby civilians, multiple officers discharged their firearms to stop the threat. The decedent was
struck by gunfire and collapsed in the doorway. Officers immediately approached and rendered emergency
medical aid until EMS arrived. Despite their efforts, EMS pronounced the decedent deceased at the scene.
