Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
Officers were dispatched to welfare check where caller stated she had shot herself in the foot while cleaning
her gun. While en route the dispatcher upgraded the priority due to the call taker reporting hearing a verbal
argument in the background and the caller stating that a male now had a gun to his own head. When officers
arrived, they saw a female crawl out of the front door with a bleeding wound on her right foot. They made
contact with her and learned that there was a male in the house with a gun. One of the officers went to the
door and saw Lockey with a revolver to his head. The officer gave the male several commands to put down
the gun, but Lockey refused, and told him he was not going to be able to do that. When the sergeant told the
officer to back up to cover, Lockey shot himself in the head with a .357 Magnum revolver, causing a massive
wound to the head. The woman then said Lockey had shot her, too. The sergeant checked for a pulse on
Lockey, but found none. The JP pronounced Lockey dead at the scene. The woman was transported to the
hospital, where she subsequently underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
