Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On March 22, 2026, at approximately 0400 hours, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) received a report
of a suspicious vehicle. The caller was reporting a “2 door sedan” was “slowly rolling” in the area with two
males checking doors on unoccupied vehicles. The caller provided the intersection of Blacktail Crest and
Culebra Rd.
Deputies proceeded to the general area and began to search for any suspicious vehicle/persons. While
traveling southbound on Mountaineer Way, a deputy observed two individuals wearing dark clothing, running
towards a vehicle. The two males entered the vehicle and began driving north bound on Blacktail Crest
without utilizing their headlamps.
Another deputy, traveling southbound on Blacktail Crest, located the suspect vehicle traveling on the roadway
without any headlamps and attempted to contact the vehicle’s driver. The deputy proceeded to turn his fully
marked BCSO vehicle around, activating his BCSO fully marked vehicle’s red and blue emergency lights, and
began traveling northbound on Blacktail Crest. The deputy reported, via the radio, the suspect vehicle’s
direction of flight was towards Culebra Rd and reported via the radio he had lost sight of the vehicle.
A third deputy approached and stopped for a stop sign at the intersection of Blacktail Crest and Snowy Egret
Fall, located ahead of the first deputy. The suspect vehicle was observed crossing the deputy’s path without
any headlamps on and at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. The deputy proceeded to follow the
vehicle and did not activate his red and blue emergency lights on his fully marked BCSO vehicle in order to
“catch up” to the vehicle.
As the third deputy continued to attempt to “catch up”, he approached debris on the roadway and a single
vehicle collision (suspect vehicle) to include two decedents (driver and passenger—there were no other

occupants).
During the investigation, it was found both decedents were utilizing a stolen vehicle that was taken prior to the
collision. Additionally, it was found the vehicle’s approximate speed was found to be in significant excess of
the posted 30 mph speed limit.
