Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On March 7, 2025, at 12:33 AM, the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) initiated a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee. An SAPD Officer attempted to stop a female driver, who was wearing a black and white hat, for erratic driving. However, at 12:35 AM, the SAPD Officer terminated the pursuit due to the vehicle reaching dangerous speeds in a residential area. The SAPD Officer requested a BOLO to be sent to Bexar County regarding the vehicle that had fled from the traffic stop. On March 7, 2025, at 12:38 AM, a Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) Deputy was dispatched to 10210 at Apricot Field to investigate a crash report. The caller indicated that a vehicle had crashed into a neighbor's tree, and the driver had fled the scene; however, the vehicle remained at the location. Upon arrival, the BCSO Deputy found a Jeep Cherokee, with the same license plate number the abovementioned SAPD Officer had initiated a traffic stop on abandoned at the location--a black and white hat was lying near the driver side door. The Jeep Cherokee license plate was checked, and the registration returned to a residence two blocks away (10242 Athens Field Dr). On March 7, 2025, at 12:45 AM, another BCSO Deputy responded to 10242 Athens Field Dr, the registered address of the Jeep Cherokee (vehicle which evaded and was found crashed/unoccupied). As the BCSO Deputy stood in front of the residence, speaking with residents, a single gunshot was heard from the backyard of the residence. The BCSO Deputy was advised, by a resident, the decedent had shot herself. The BCSO Deputy rushed to the backyard and observed the decedent with a single gunshot to the head. Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- During further investigation, BCSO Investigators learned the decedent sustained a gunshot wound, to the left side of the head, that appeared to be a close contact wound. The firearm, believed to have been used by the decedent, was found closed by and appeared to have hair caught in the slide of the gun. Additionally, a firearm magazine was found in the decedent's pocket. The decedent was pronounced deceased at the scene. Custodial Death Report :: Page 7 of 7
