Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On 3/21/2021 at about 12:50am a Killeen Police Officer initiated a traffic stop of a suspected intoxicated driver in the 3700blk of S WS Young Dr in Killeen, Bell County, Texas. The officer had observed the suspect vehicle operating in a erratic manner, consistent with a possible intoxicated driver. The vehicle stopped in the left turn lane when the officer activated his emergency equipment. As the officer attempted to approach the vehicle on foot the driver (and sole occupant) of the vehicle drove away at a low rate of speed, striking a concrete wall. When the officer attempted to make direct contact with the driver, he learned that the subject had shot himself in the head with a handgun upon being stopped by police.
