Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On February 15th, 2023, while conducting surveillance on a vehicle, officers observed a male get into the driver seat and drive it away. The officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the driver of the vehicle refused to stop and evaded arrest, leading the officers on a pursuit lasting over 20 minutes. Once at a safe location, officers successfully executed a PIT maneuver on the suspect's vehicle in an attempt to end the high-speed chase. the suspect, whose vehicle was now facing the marked HPD police vehicles, could be seen pointing a firearm at the officers': the suspect discharged his weapon, striking the windshield of one of the police vehicles several times. Several officers at the location discharged their weapons, and the suspect, it was found that he had succumbed to his wounds. No officers were injured during this incident. Preliminary findings during the autopsy exam indicated the suspect possibly died from suicide.
