On Friday, December 26, 2025, officers from the Houston Police Department (HPD) assigned to the
Southeast Patrol Division were dispatched to a Crash Major call for service at approximately 0141 hours at an
apartment complex located at 13351 Cityscape Avenue, Houston, Harris County Texas. The caller also
reported that the suspect appeared intoxicated and had pointed a firearm at her. The caller further advised
that the suspect was in a tan Chevrolet Suburban.
The first arriving officer observed the decedent in front of the apartment complex, outside the entry/exit near
the keypad, in a tan Chevrolet Suburban. The officer approached the driver's door of the vehicle and
observed the decedent in possession of a firearm, identified as an AR-15 pistol. The officer created distance
and began shouting verbal commands for the decedent to show his hands. The decedent did not comply and
was observed reaching for the firearm, which prompted the officer to discharge his duty weapon multiple
times.
An additional patrol unit with two HPD officers arrived on scene, and all three continued issuing verbal
commands for the decedent to show his hands. Officer then observed the decedent begin to raise the firearm,
prompting all three officers to discharge their duty weapons. The decedent had succumbed to his injuries on
scene, and the Houston Fire Department gave a time of death as 0158 hrs.
On Saturday, December 27, 20265, Dr. Phatak, of the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences Medical
Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death as homicide.
There were no injuries to officers or citizens related to this incident.
