On September 16, 2023, the decedent was involved in a fight with another inmate. The decedent was transported to the clinic and subsequently to an outside hospital for a higher level of care. On September 23, 2023, the decedent's charges were dismissed, and he was released from the custody of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
