Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On Friday, September 11, 2026, Houston Police Officers were dispatched to a Cutting in Progress call for
service at 4411 N. Sheperd Dr. #23A. The call slip reported that the suspect had stabbed his brother in the
back with a knife.
When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with 911 caller, who is the mother of the suspect. While
officers were speaking to her, the complainant was getting medical treatment and was transported to Ben
Taub Hospital by the Houston Fire Department (HFD), ambulance number 13. The mother of the suspect
informed officers that her husband was still inside the apartment and is partially paralyzed and cannot walk on
his own. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect who was still in the apartment, however, the
suspect told officers that he was not going to come out. Officers contacted the Harris County District
Attorney’s Officer and charges of Aggravated Assault – Family Member were accepted against the suspect.
HPD SWAT was called out to assist since it became a prolonged barricaded suspect scene.
As SWAT was arriving on scene, one gunshot was initially heard from inside the apartment and then a fire
began to ignite from inside as well. HFD was called out to put out the fire and then a second gunshot was
heard towards the back of the apartment., Once the fire was out, HPD DWAT went inside and confirmed two

dead bodies with the time of death both called at 2013 hours by SWAT Dr. Schulz.
The Harris Count Institute of Forensic Sciences was notified of this incident and sent investigators M.
Dechant and K. Berkman to conduct the initial scene investigation. From their initial investigation, it appeared
that, one male was fully burned in the living room area and was pronounced on scene. This male also had a
single gunshot wound to the right side of his head. The other male, who is the suspect, was found with what
appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head towards the back of the apartment.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences conducted an autopsy of the decedent/suspect and Dr.
Henrie gave a preliminary ruling that this death appear to be a suicide due to self-inflicted gunshot wound to
the head documented under ML26-3425 but will leave it pending until toxicology comes back. The autopsy
report is still pending completion.
