Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On September 11, 2022 Officer was working an approved extra job at Doneraki"s restaurant located in the 300 block of Gulfgate Mall, Houston, Texas between the hours of 8:00 pm and 12:00 am. Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- At approximately 10:45 p.m. Officer made contact with a female customer who stated that she had lost her cell phone, Officer helped the customer look for the phone but we were unable to locate the phone. The male subject who was with the female became verbally combative towards me. Officer ordered the male subject to leave the property. The couple left the property in their personal vehicle. While waiting for the employees to finish their cleanup routine the subject returned to the restaurant and entered the building unbeknownst to Officer. One of the wait staff approached Officer. and informed us that a man was in the restaurant. Officer went to investigate the report while doing so the subject exited the women's restroom and started running aggressively towards Officer with a four way lug wrench raised above his head. Officer was in fear for his safety and his partner's safety when Officer pulled his service weapon and discharged two shots striking the subject. The subject ran into Officer knocking some chairs over and fled out the front door. The subject collapsed in the parking lot adjacent to his truck.
