Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On 04/09/2022, at approximately 1710 hours, officers with the Houston Police Department were approached
by a citizen who owned a nearby business requesting assistance with a violent suspect who frequents the
area of his business. The business owner advised officers the suspect is known to be armed and dangerous
and he has threatened to kill patrons at the business. The business owner advised officers that the individual
is currently at an adjacent tire shop near his business and the owner of the tire shop would like for officers to
have the suspect leave the location. Officers spoke to the tire shop owner over the phone and the officers
were advised that the suspect intimidates his employees and he wanted the suspect to leave. Officers drove
to the tire shop and spoke to employees who indicated the suspect was inside. Officers entered the business
in order to make contact with the suspect and instruct him to leave the location at the request of the tire shop
owner. When officers approached the suspect, he was sitting in the office of the tire shop and officers gave
verbal commands to the suspect to put his hands up. Officers had their weapons drawn due to the violent
nature of the suspect and the likelihood that the suspect would be armed as stated by the citizen. The
suspect ignored the officers commands and lunged toward a desk he was sitting near. The officers fired
multiple shots at the suspect, striking him in the torso area, arm, and leg. Officers immediately provided first
aid to the suspect until the Houston Fire Department could arrive on the scene. The suspect as transported to
Northwest Memorial Hospital by the Houston Fire Department where he underwent surgery for his injuries.
The suspect was pronounced deceased at 1238 hours on 04/10/2022.
