Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
Decedent was involved in the reported murder of his wife in San Antonio, TX, the morning of January 21,
2018. After decedent murdered his wife in San Antonio, he fled in his truck with his infant child (~2yoa). An
Amber Alert was issued and broadcasted. As a result of the Amber Alert, the decedent's truck was located in
Guadalupe County on Hwy 123 heading north toward San Marcos, TX. Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office
deputies located the truck at about 11:20 hours traveling on FM 1339 (east of Hwy 123). A Guadalupe County
Sheriff's Officer deputy initiated a stop on decedent using the patrol vehicle's overhead lights. The decedent
yielded to the deputy's lights and patrol car by pulling to the shoulder of FM 1339. Before the decedent's
vehicle came to a stop, he shot himself in the head and later died as a result of the self-inflicted gunshot
wound. Decedent was accompanied by his infant child who was occupying a car seat in the rear driver's side
seating area. The child was not physically harmed. Decedent was pronounced dead after EMS removed him
from the scene and transported him for medical treatment.
Decedent's status as "in-custody" for reporting purposes is questionable considering the facts, circumstances,
and instructional criteria accompanying this form. The time listed under section #6 above is for reference from
call notes and may be interpreted otherwise since the decedent shot himself in the head at/near the moment
the truck he was operating came to a stop.
