Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On the date of 11/06/23 and the time of approximately 0726 hrs, I Detention Corporal N.Ziebell
(Badge#22069) did respond to a call from SHU Rover Detention Officer C.Ornales to come check on I/M
Brown, Richard (S. O#16511283). Upon arriving cellside I observed the Inmate in medical distress and
holding his chest. Officer Ornales called for the door to be opened and upon the door opening the I/M walked
into my arms and fell. I held him up and stabilized him by his biceps and told Ornales to call a Code Blue
(Medical Emergency). At this time, I told Ornales to go get a wheelchair and after he left Jail Medical Staff
arrived on scene. I assisted the inmate in sitting down and Medical Staff took his vitals upon the vital readings
being taken I was instructed my Nurse Bratz to order Central Control to call EMS. 911 was called and the
inmate was assisted into a wheelchair and taken to medical where he was placed on Oxygen till EMS arrived.
Upon the arrival of EMS Deputy Pena met them in the Sally Port and rode with the Inmate to St. Joseph
Emergency Room. Once I was informed that the Inmate had been admitted to St. Joseph I removed I/M
J.Knight who was I/M Browns cell mate from SHU-A8 and locked the cell down isolating the door. I then
returned to my assigned duties. EOR
