Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On January 24, 2022, around 05:50 hours, officers with the Murphy Police Department responded to 915 Blue
Jay Drive, in Murphy, Collin County, TX in reference to a disturbance. It was the third such call to the
residence, the first being at around 01:00 hours and the second being around 03:30 hours. The decedent was
the complainant in the first two calls and the roommate/homeowner was the complainant on the third call.
Officers suspected drug or mental health crisis on the decedent's part being the root cause of all calls. The
third and final call was made because the decedent was in his room yelling and throwing things around.
Officers attempted to contact the decedent, but he refused to open the door. Another officer arrived and built
a rapport through the bedroom door causing the decedent to unlock it. Upon entry to the room, officers saw

the decedent on the floor thrashing around and appearing to be reacting to an imaginary source. They knew
they would have to detain him for mental heath purposes, so they handcuffed him and attempted to secure
him so that he would not injure himself. After he was handcuffed, within a very short time, they noticed that
the subject had stopped breathing and CPR was begun by the officers. An automated external defibrillator
(AED) was retrieved and connected to the decedent. The Murphy Fire Department arrived on-scene and the
decedent was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
