While waiting for him to open the door, they could hear what they knew to be a Taser being activated inside the apartment. When they made contact with him by him opening the door, he was observed to be agitated and would not listen to commands from law enforcement personnel. The suspect was ordered to sit down and did began to take a kneeling position but abruptly stood back up and began closing the door while reaching to an area behind it or to his right. A Deputy Constable then attempted to stop his action by placing his hand on the door. The suspect was able to retrieve a long barrel revolver from inside the apartment and began firing rounds at the Deputy Constables. One round made contact with one Deputy Constable, penetrating his body. Two other Deputy Constables’ also on scene then responded by discharging their duty weapons at the suspect. The suspect then retreated further into the apartment and barricaded himself inside. All actions in an effort to have the suspect exit the apartment on his own were unsuccessful, even after the suspect made contact with 911 stating that he had been shot and needed help, entry into the apartment was made and he was found deceased inside.
