Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On 08/07/25 at about 2109 hours the deceased called the police dispatcher advising he was in front of the
police department and unafraid to shoot himself. Police Officers arrived on scene less than three minutes
later and immediately began to attempt to deescalate the situation by speaking to the deceased and asking
him what they could do for him. The deceased advised "he was done" and he wanted the police officers to
shoot him. The deceased was holding a pistol to his own head as he was asking police officers to shoot him.
Police officers continued to speak with the deceased attempting to calm him down for over six minutes.
During this time, the deceased continued to yell at officers to shoot him. A police officer who the deceased
asked for and who he had rapport with from prior police contacts took over communication with the deceased
and asked him several times to put the gun down and find out what help the deceased wanted. While the
officer with rapport was speaking with the deceased and ensuring him he wanted to help him, the deceased

was still holding a gun to his own head. Without any warning from the deceased, the deceased advised the
officer speaking to him he would never point a gun at him. The deceased then removed the gun from his
head, extended his arm and pointed the gun he had been holding to his own head, toward several other
officers. The officers with whom the deceased point the gun at immediately sought cover as multiple officers
responded by discharging their issued sidearms and rifles at the deceased.
