Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On February 12, 2019, law enforcement officers were conducting surveillance on a group of individuals
suspected of conducting numerous aggravated robberies in the area. During the surveillance, officers
observed Patrick Lee Reed, Christopher Ketrel Brimsey, and another suspect rob a Walgreen's Pharmacy
using a firearm. Officers attempted to apprehend the suspects as they left the store. The officers gave
commands for the suspects to disarm and surrender. Reed and Brimsey did not comply with these
commands, and Brimsey pointed a handgun at the officers. Multiple rounds were fired at the officers;
however, it is unclear which suspect fired. Two handguns were later found at the scene. One was located in
Brimsey's hand, and it is unknown whether Reed or the other suspect was carrying or fired the other
handgun. In response to the deadly threat, the officers returned fire. Reed and Brimsey were shot and
subsequently killed. The other suspect was apprehended along with another individual suspected of driving
the getaway vehicle.
