Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On November 30, 2023, at appoximately 0720 hours, a Spring Branch Independent School District (ISD) officer was alerted over the radio by school officials at Buffalo Creek Elementary School of a male wearing all-black clothing attempting to open car doors in the school parking lot. The officer, who was already on scene, spotted the male matching the physical description put out by school officials and approached him. Upon approach, the male evaded the officer on foot before carjacking a citizen at approximately the 3000 Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- block of Blalock Rd. at gunpoint. The male suspectled the officer on a short pursuit, striking several vehicles in his path, before coming to a stop at approximately the 2800 block of Campbell Rd. At the 2800 block of Campbell Rd., the male suspect jumped out of the vehicle he was in, pointed a firearm at the officer, who had come to a stop in his patrol vehicle directly behind him, and then carjacked a second citizen. The suspect led the officer on another short chase before driving to the back of a business at 2815 Campbell Rd. and coming to a stop.The suspect exited the vehicle, ran into a warehouse, and was given verbal commands by the officer to drop his weapon. The suspect ignored the commands and raised his firearm at the officer. The officer fired his duty weapon at the suspect, striking him. The suspect succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was pronounced by HFD Personnel. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the deceased suspect was allegedly involved in a homicide of a family member prior to the encounter with the Spring Branch ISD officer. Both cases are currently under investigation by the Houston PD Homicide Division-Special Investigations Unit (SIU). Custodial Death Report :: Page 7 of 7
