Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On 04/03/2023 Officers with the Houston Police Department's Westside Crime Suppression Team were flagged down in regard to a possible location of a stolen vehicle. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and waited for the driver of the vehicle to return. Once the driver returned to the vehicle officers and waited for the driver of the vehicle to return. Once the driver returned to the vehicle officers attempted to a traffic stop, in which the suspect disregarded the officers' signals and began an attempt to evade them. Officers tried 3 times to conduct a PIT on the vehicle, with the third time being successful. The PIT caused the vehicle to spin, striking a curb and rolling into a tree on the roof of the vehicle. The suspect was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown about inside the vehicle. The suspect was transported to the hospital via Memorial Hermann Life Flight helicopter.
