During the victim’s stay her vitals were taken several times and the findings were documented.
At approximately 2045 hours, the POD nurse checked on the victim and found her sitting on the floor
complaining she felt like she was going to vomit but was unable to. Her blood sugar was checked to be 34
and pulse was 151, 2 glucose tabs were administered (BS up to 107) and the charge nurse, Jessica, was
called. The victim was sent to the infirmary around 2130 hours and was rehoused to the infirmary at 0033
hours on 9/13.
At approximately 0200 hours, the victim was observed "seated" on the floor slumped to her right side in the
corner of the cell. The victim was unresponsive to verbal stimuli. The victim was moved away from the wall
and a blanket placed under her head. A sternal rub was performed by the charge nurse and the victim was
responsive to that. Blood sugar was at 20 and Glucagon was administered, 14 minutes after her blood sugar
was at 22. Another nurse administered glucagon to her right thigh at that time.
The PA on call was contacted about the victim’s state and it was advised she needed to be transported to the
hospital as soon as possible. The victim was transported to Baylor Scott and White in McKinney where she
was admitted and doctors assessed her. The hospital advised the jail the victim was in a declining state and
was on life support and waiting for family to arrive before making the call to take her off.
