Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On May 21, 2023, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle. Deputies located
a stolen U-Haul stopped in a moving lane of traffic with a male asleep in the driver’s seat. While transporting
the male to jail, he hit his head numerous times on the backseat window partition of the patrol vehicle.
Deputies stopped and requested EMS. Paramedics arrived and the male struck his head against a seatbelt
fixture, causing an open laceration. As deputies followed paramedics to the hospital, the handcuffed male
jumped out of the back of the moving ambulance falling onto the freeway. The unresponsive male was
transported by the same ambulance to Ben Taub Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 12:24 p.m.
by a medical doctor.
