Yes, mark which Under Restraint: restraint devices were used Type of restraint Type of Restraint: Handcuffs Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at approximately 19:26 hours a 28 year old female checked into the Emergency Center at UMC Hospital located at 602 Indiana Avenue, Lubbock, Texas due to difficulty breathing. As a doctor was speaking with subject, he observed her take an unknow quantity of unknown pills and drink an alcoholic beverage. The subject then left the room. UMC PD/Security was notified of the incident. Officers located the subject walking out of the Emergency Center and spoke with her. Officers were attempting to ascertain if the subject was suicidal. The subject told Officers she was homicidal and swung at an officer. The officer placed the subject on the ground to gain control of her and she attempted to take the officer’s weapon. The subject was handcuffed and placed under arrest for attempted assault of a peace officer and attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer. The subject was placed in bed 10, at approximately 19:48 hours, to be seen for medical clearance before being transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center. At approximately 22:33 hours the subject went into cardiac arrest and was moved to bed 5. UMC Hospital staff administer CPR. The subject was pronounced dead at 23:20 Hours.
