Summary:
On April 14, 2021, the decedent's wife called 911 and advised her husband was having a mental health crisis.
A Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy arrived and spoke to the caller. The deputy knocked on the door of the
decedent's residence. The decedent opened the door with a knife in his hand and ran towards the deputy.
The deputy retreated to the front sidewalk as the decedent stood in the front yard holding the knife. The
deputy attempted to deescalate the situation by starting a dialogue with the decedent. The decedent ran
towards the deputy while holding the knife, and the deputy discharged his Taser in his direction. The Taser
deployment was ineffective, and the deputy continued to retreat to a safe distance. As the decent continued
