Summary:
On Sunday, February 22, 2026, Houston Police Officers were dispatched to a shooting in progress call for
service at 11050 Southwest Freeway. The call slip reported that the decedent was armed with a rifle and had
been discharging it on the third floor of the hotel.
When officers arrived, a male matching the decedent's description was seen carrying a rifle at his side.
Officers issued multiple verbal commands instructing the decedent to drop the rifle. The decedent instead
raised the rifle, pointed it at the officers, and fired. In response, three Houston Police Officers discharged their
weapons, striking the decedent. Officers immediately began rendering aid until medical personnel arrived. No
officers were injured.
