Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On Sunday January 11, 2026, at approximately 1419 hours, Houston Police Department Northeast Patrol
Officers were dispatched to a suspicious person with a weapon call in which an individual armed with a pistol
was observed attempting to force his way into a residence.
Officers arrived and observed that individual outside of the residence in a vacant lot armed with a pistol and
attempted to give the individual commands. The individual was acting erratic, not obeying commands, and at
one point put the firearm to his head. During the encounter, an officer discharged their weapon towards the
individual.
Detectives spoke to the suspect's aunt, who stated that she was one of the individuals who called police on
the subject, and learned that the suspect lived at 4808 1/2 Wayne St. with his grandmother, and two juveniles
(ages 11 and 12). On this day, the suspect was acting erratic and became enraged after the grandmother
asked him for help trying to work the TV. An altercation ensued, and the suspect began threatening family

members with a machete. The suspect then produced a pistol, and the aunt and the two juveniles went into
the back bedroom of the residence. The suspect then jumped out of his bedroom window. The suspect then
reentered the residence, and began forcing his way into the bedroom, and broke the bedroom door down in
the process. Police were called, and upon arrival, they observed the individual outside of the residence armed
with a pistol.
According to family, the suspect suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and is supposed to be
taking medication for those mental illnesses but has not taken his medication since approximately April 2025.
On Monday, January 12, 2026, an autopsy was conducted on the decedent at the Harris County Institute of
Forensic Science by Dr. Rico and is documented under ML#26-0147. Dr. Rico officially ruled on the cause of
death due to a gunshot wound of the head and manner of the death due to suicide. There were no injuries to
officers or citizens related to this incident.
