During the ensuing investigation, decedent began acting in a bizarre and incoherent manner. It is suspected that he ingested narcotics in an attempt to hide them from officers. Yes, mark which Under Restraint: restraint devices were used Type of restraint Type of Restraint: Handcuffs Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: During a traffic stop for a minor traffic offense, officers conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of the driver for the the traffic offenses and another passenger for possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine). During the investigation, the decedent was handcuffed after he began acting in a bizarre and incoherent manner. He began flopping on the ground and was treated by EMS and transported to the hospital by the ambulance. Subsequently, the driver admitted that she gave the decedent a quantity of methamphetamine and he attempted to hide it for her during the traffic stop. There is an indication that the decedent then swallowed the narcotics and packaging prior to being handcuffed. An autopsy was not requested and the decedent was taken to a funeral home at the direction of the family members.
