Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On August 4, 2023, at approximately 4:53 P.M., officers of the Houston Police Department Kingwood Patrol Division were dispatched to a Burglary in Progress-Residence call at 2915 Woodland Grove Drive, Houston, Harris County, Texas. Officers arrived on-scene and made contact with the suspect near the driveway of the residence. the suspect immediately fled on foot from the officer. The officer pursued the suspect a short distance in his patrol vehicle, then exited his vehicle and continued pursuing the suspect on foot through the neighborhood and backyards of nearby residence. the officer was able to catch up with the suspect near the scene of the original call and attempted to take the suspect into custody. The Suspect resisted arrest, and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the suspect produced a firearm, subsequently, the officer was able to retrieve his firearm while struggling with the suspect over the suspect's gun and discharged his firearm one time, striking the suspect. Evidence indicated the suspect discharged one round. Paramedics soon arrived and pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.
