2023. Officers of the South Gessner Patrol spotted the silver 2014 Toyota Tundra in an apartment complex
located in the 6600 block Dunlap Street; however because of the vehicle's angle, the officers could not tell if
the vehicle was occupied. Officers notified the CST units, who advised the patrol officers to leave the complex
and remain in the immediate area. Officers maintained a visual of the entrance/exits of the complex and,
shortly after, spotted the vehicle leaving the apartment complex occupied by one person.
Officers attempted to perform a felony stop in a marked police vehicle, and the suspect evaded officers. After
a short chase, the suicide crashed his vehicle on Renwick Drive and ran on foot into an apartment complex
located at 5800 Dashwood. As pursing officers approached the suspect, officers stated he raised a pistol and
pointed it at them. Two officers fired their weapons at the suspect, and the suspect was struck. First aid was
rendered, and the suspect was transported to the Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he succumbed to his
injuries. No officers were injured during this incident.
