Summary of Incident
Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On Sunday, April 24, 2022, at approximately 0605 hours, Officers were dispatched to 1230 Waterdown Drive.
Officers were advised by the homeowner that her ex-boyfriend (Decedent, Jorge Enrique Torres-Segura) had
entered her home through a broken window without consent and assaulted her. When officers arrived on
scene, both parties were outside the residence, but Mr. Torres-Segura fled back inside the house. Officers did
not push the situation and took a position inside the laundry room near the entrance to the garage. For
approximately 2 hours, officers held their position while attempting to communicate with Mr. Torres-Segura.
Officers could hear movement inside the house and suspected that Mr. Torres-Segura had possibly entered
an upstairs attic. After the sporadic line of communication had ended, officers elected to make entry into the
house to complete a room by room search for Mr. Torres-Segura. As they were preparing to make entry,
officers heard a loud crash from inside the residence. Officers began moving through the house and
discovered that Mr. Torres-Segura had fallen through the ceiling (approximately 25 feet) and onto the tile

flooring near the foyer of the front door. Officers checked the welfare of Mr. Torres-Segura who appeared to
be in and out of consciousness. While waiting for the arrival of Allen Fire Department personnel, Mr.
Torres-Segura began to move around. Officers elected to handcuff Mr. Torres-Segura (hands in front) in the
event he became combative. Mr. Torres-Segura was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted
for surgery. The Collin County Medical Examiner's Office informed our agency the following morning that Mr.
Torres-Segura had passed away from his injuries.
