Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On 12/21/2024 at approximately 5:15pm Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol was involved in a pursuit of a black truck on Interstate 14. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to an emergency vehicle and the pursuit of the black truck continued into Killeen, TX. The driver of the black truck drove into the parking lot of the Killeen Mall located at 2100 S WS Young Dr., Killeen, Texas where it drove through the south doors of the JC Penney store located at the mall. The truck entered the store and struck several patrons of the store Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- and continued through JC Penney until it entered the central hallway of the mall. Officers from multiple fearing the operator of the vehicle would continue his assaultive behavior toward mall patrons engaged the operator with their weapons, neutralizing the operator of the black truck.
