Summary:
On 10/15/2024, at about 09:01 AM, Orange Police Officers were dispatched to the south city limits due to
other officers requesting assistance in a vehicle pursuit. It was reported that Orange County Constables were
pursuing a vehicle due to the suspected driver colliding with an officer on a motorcycle and then fleeing the
scene. The suspect and loan occupant of the vehicle was identified as Jeremy Culp. Several officers joined
the pursuit that led to the intersection of 15th and Green Avenue. At this intersection, Culp wrecked his
vehicle causing it to become disabled. Culp exited the driver’s seat while possessing a rifle. Officers arriving

on scene directed Culp to drop his gun. Culp initially complied with officers and dropped the firearm. Culp laid
on the concrete with his hands behind his back appearing to surrender. As officers were approaching Culp to
place him in custody, he rolled over, grabbed his rifle and pointed it towards an officer. At that moment,
officers were forced to fire their weapons to protect the officer. Culp was struck and succumbed to his injuries.
