Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Houston Police Department (HPD) officers from Midwest Patrol and Midwest
CST were dispatched to a Person Down call with an armed suspect on scene in the parking garage at 8820
Westheimer, an apartment complex. A security guard observed the complainant down and motionless in the
garage and the suspect sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle next to the complainant. The security guard
approached the suspect to investigate, and the suspect produced a firearm. The security guard retreated to
cover and then called 911.
Uniformed HPD officers arrived to find a male lying on the ground motionless and the suspect standing over
him with an AR pistol. The officers gave the suspect multiple commands over several minutes to drop the

weapon, but the suspect refused. After many attempts to get the suspect to drop the weapon, the suspect
raised the weapon to point it at the officers. Five officers then discharged their firearms and struck the
suspect. The Houston Fire Department was requested for emergency medical aid, but both men were
ultimately pronounced deceased on scene.
