Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7
--- PAGE BREAK ---
On November 23, 2025, at approximately 1926 hours, Houston Police Department (HPD) officers assigned to
Downtown Patrol Division on-viewed a disturbance at the CVS Pharmacy located at 300 Milan Street,
Houston Texas. The suspect was loud, irate, and reaching in his pocket as the officers approached. The
officers attempted to calm the suspect down and to detain the suspect for possible mental health
investigation. The suspect refused to obey the officers' verbal commands and kept reaching in his pocket as
he was yelling at the officers in an aggressive manner and asked the officers to shoot him. He said, "Yall
gonna kill me tonight then", as he walked backwards and still refused to obey the officers' verbal commands.
After additional officers arrived on scene, the officers attempted to take the suspect into custody when the
suspect produced a knife and cut one of the officers, causing a large laceration on his head. The officers and
the suspect all fell to the ground and were wrestling with the suspect in an attempt to take the knife from him
and to take him into custody. The injured officer's partner upholstered his duty weapon and fired at the
suspect, striking him at least one time. The Houston Fire Department (HFD) paramedics were requested at
the scene, and upon arrival, HFD pronounced the suspect deceased at 1957 hours. HFD paramedics
transported the injured officers to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, and he is in stable condition. No
other injuries reported. The autopsy report determined the manner of death to be due to Homicide, and the
cause of death due to Gunshot wounds of the head and right hand.
