Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: Gregory Clark was arrested and entered our jail facility on 6-29-2021. Clark exhibited medical issues on 9-2-2021, and was seen by jail medical staff where it was determined that he should be taken off-site for more thorough medical analysis. He was admitted to Wadley Regional Medical Center for possible seizures and a positive test for Covid-19. Clark remained in the medical facility until his death. On 9-20-2021, medical staff notified us that Clark's condition had deteriorated as a result of Covid-19 complications. He had been placed on a ventilator and was not responding to treatment efforts. The hospital was seeking Hospice alternatives for Clark. In an effort to facilitate his needs, we released Clark from custody in hopes that Hospice would be able to assist in his care. We also notified the Texas Jail Commission (Michael Gravitt) and informed him of Clark's condition. As Clark was unable to acknowledge his release, his eventual death would be considered in-custody. Clark died on 9-25-2021. Justice of the Peace Nancy Talley ordered his autopsy and arrangements were made for him to be transported to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas. Texas Ranger Joshua Mason was contacted and we are assisting him with the investigation of Inmate Gregory Clark's Death.
