Summary:
SUPPLEMENT BY OFFICER CALVERT # 112
WHILE ON PATROL AS A K9 UNIT, ON 10/12/25 AT APPROX 2025, I ALONG WITH OTHER OFFICERS
RESPONDED TO A FAMILY DISTURBANCE WITH A WEAPON LOCATED AT 9915 BAYOU WOODS DR.
BAYTOWN, TX 77523, IN THE PINEHURST SUBDIVISION.
THE CALLER, (LATER IDENTIFIED AS JESSICA DUNAGAN W/F, 4/3/97), ADVISED HER HUSBAND,
(LATER IDENTIFIED AS GERARDO GONZALEZ W/M 10/27/78), WAS THREATENING HER WITH A GUN.
DUNAGAN ADVISED THEIR KIDS WERE ALSO IN THE RESIDENCE. WHILE IN ROUTE, DUNAGAN
ADVISED SHE WAS ABLE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE WITH HER CHILDREN BUT THAT GONZALEZ WAS
FOLLOWING HER. SGT BROWN # S144 DIRECTED DISPATCH TO TELL DUNAGAN TO GO TO THE
GAS STATION AT HWY 146 AND PINEHURST, WHERE THEY WOULD WAIT FOR HER. CPL WAY # 74
CONTACTED DUNAGAN AT THE GAS STATION AND FOUND THAT GONZALEZ HAD TURNED OFF
AND WAS NO LONGER FOLLOWING HER. DUNAGAN ADVISED GONZALEZ HAD MADE THREATS
TOWARDS KILLING HER, OFFICERS, AND THEN HIMSELF.
WITH GONZALEZ NO LONGER FOLLOWING HER, I BEGAN CHECKING THE NEIGHBORHOOD FOR
THE SUSPECT VEHICLE (2016 WHITE VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN BEARING TXLP: WFZ0625). WITH THE
VEHICLE NOT AT THE RESIDENCE, I BEGAN CHECKING FLOCK FOR THE VEHICLE AND OBSERVED
THE VEHICLE LAST HIT COMING INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD 1 HOUR PRIOR THIS CALL BEING
DISPATCHED, WITH NO INFORMATION OF THE VEHICLE LEAVING. CPL WAY THEN ADVISED HE
WAS FOLLOWING THE VICTIM BACK TO THE RESIDENCE WHERE I REMAINED IN CASE GONZALEZ
SHOWED BACK UP. OFFICER SUAZO # 168 LATER ARRIVED TO THE RESIDENCE TO RELIEVE ME SO
THAT I WAS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST IN LOCATING GONZALEZ.

ONCE I WAS RELIEVED, SGT BROWN RECEIVED NOTICE FROM THE FLOCK SYSTEM THAT
GONZALEZ'S VEHICLE WAS HEADED BACK NORTH ON HWY 146 TOWARDS THE RESIDENCE. SGT.
BROWN, OFFICER TANKSLEY, AND I WERE IN THE AREA OF HWY 146 AND PINEHURST TO SEE IF
GONZALEZ WAS ATTEMPTING TO GO BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. WHILE WAITING, SGT. BROWN
OBSERVED A VEHICLE MATCHING THE DESCRIPTION OF GONZALEZ'S BACKED IN NEXT TO A
DUMPSTER IN THE SOUTH PARKING LOT OF THE EXXON GAS STATION LOCATED AT 7010 HWY 146.
SGT. BROWN PULLED INTO THE SOUTH ENTRANCE OF THE GAS STATION TO ATTEMPT TO
CONTACT THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN TOOK OFF NORTH THROUGH THE
PARKING LOT AS I WAS ENTERING THE NORTH ENTRANCE OF THE GAS STATION. AS I ENTERED
THE PARKING LOT I ACTIVATED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND CAME TO A STOP, BUT GONZALEZ
RAN HIS VEHICLE HEAD-ON INTO MY PATROL VEHICLE. AS I WAS EXITING MY VEHICLE, I BEGAN
GIVING COMMANDS TO THE GONZALEZ WHILE HAVING HIM AT GUNPOINT. GONZALEZ PULLED A
PISTOL AND SHOT HIMSELF ONCE IN THE HEAD. I THEN ADVISED DISPATCH "SHOT FIRED, HE
SHOT HIMSELF IN THE HEAD" AFTER THE SHOT GONZALEZ WAS STILL MOVING AND BEGAN
PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING THE TIRES TO SPIN AND SMOKE BUILDING UP WHILE
STARTING TO MOVE MY PATROL VEHICLE. I THEN APPLIED THE BREAK AND ADVISED OFFICERS I
COULD PROVIDE COVER WHILE THEY MOVED UP TO SECURE THE VEHICLE. SGT. BROWN,
OFFICER TANKSLEY AND OFFICER SUAZO APPROACHED THE VEHICLE FROM THE PASSENGER
SIDE. THEY WERE THEN ABLE TO RECOVER GONZALEZ'S GUN, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND
REMOVE HIM FROM THE VEHICLE AND EMS WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE. I ADVISED OFFICERS TO
PLACE GONZALEZ IN THE RECOVERY POSITION DUE TO THE HEAD TRAUMA AND BEGAN GETTING
THE SCENE SECURE. EMS ARRIVED AND GONZALEZ WAS FLOWN TO HERMAN HOSPITAL.
DETECTIVES WERE CALLED OUT AND PROCESSED THE SCENE.
I LATER UPLOADED MY IN-CAR AND BODY CAM VIDEO AS EVIDENCE.
