Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On January 19, 2016 Forney police officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle at 752 Pinson Road, which is in Forney. Officers conducted a traffic stop but the vehicle, being driven by the subject and occupied by 2 females, fled. A pursuit began and elements from the Mesquite Police Department and Dallas Sherriff Department joined the chase to assist. The subject drove the vehicle into a residential neighborhood in beat 354. At some point, he slowed down and told the 2 females to exit the vehicle. The subject continued to flee from officers until DSO utilized a tire deflation device on his vehicle. The subject continued to drive his vehicle to the 1100 block of Riverwood where it became disabled. The pursuing Forney, Mesquite, and DSO officers stopped behind the subject's vehicle. The subject exited his vehicle with an automatic pistol and fired at the officers. Forney and Mesquite officers returned fire. The subject died at the scene. At the time of this report it is not known if the subject died from wounds inflicted by the Forney and Mesquite officers or a self inflicted wound. Witness officers describe the subject shooting himself and a video from a police helicopter also appears to show this. The Medical Examiner is conducting an evaluation.
