Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
The Houston Police Department (HPD) and the Northeast Division Crime Suppression Team (CST) were
conducting an investigation on September 29, 2023, at the Summit at Bennington Apartments located at 6767
Bennington St., Houston, Harris County, TX 77028.
During this investigation, CST units observed multiple suspects displaying firearms in public in a manner
inconsistent with current laws and statutes. CST units then attempted to detain multiple suspects for further
investigation. During this attempt, at approximately 8:52 p.m., a suspect pointed a rifle at one of the CST
officers, and the officer discharged his duty weapon at the suspect, striking him multiple times.
Despite life-saving efforts performed by the HPD officers on scene and the Houston Fire Department (HFD)
personnel enroute to the hospital, the suspect succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by a
physician on September 29, 2023, at 9:30 p.m. at a local hospital.
