Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
The decedent lived at 109 Parker Dr, Jasper, Texas. His nephew, Brian Keith Land, b/m, age 46, lived in the
house with the decedent. During a narcotics investigation, the Jasper Police Department received information
that Brian Keith Land was in possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, inside the residence at 109
Parker Dr., and had recently sold controlled substances from the residence. An affidavit for a search warrant
was prepared by a Jasper Police Department officer, and presented to a District Judge, requesting a warrant
to search the residence. The affidavit was approved, and a search warrant issued. On the morning of
06/04/2024, the Jasper Police Department's SWAT team, accompanied by other Jasper Police Department
officers and an officer from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety
drove to 109 Parker Dr to execute the search warrant. The plan was for the SWAT team to enter the
residence and secure the occupants. After the occupants of the residence were secured, other officers were
to search the residence. The SWAT team forcibly entered the house at 5:23am on 06/04/2024. Upon entering
the house, the team members were yelling "Jasper Police - Search Warrant". Immediately upon entering the
residence they encounter a w/m laying on the couch. The white male followed instructions given to him by the
officers and was handcuffed. Brian Keith Land was encountered in a bedroom in the front of the house. He
too followed instructions from the police and was handcuffed. The officers moved down the hallway to the

the bedroom at the rear of the house and found it to be locked. One of the officers forced the bedroom door
open and entered, followed by another officer. Immediately upon entering the bedroom, the decedent fired a
9mm pistol at the officers, striking one in his protective vest. Both officers returned fire killing the decedent.
