Summary:
On April 5, 2023, Houston Police Officers assigned to the North Belt Division Crime Suppression Team
(CST), and Harris County Sheriff's Office were conducting surveillance on a possible robbery suspect in the
area of Veterans Memorial and Broad Haven in unincorporated. Houston, Harris County. The suspect was
observed entering a business known as the "Krazy Dollar" at 1106 Veterans Memorial Drive and robbing the
employees at gunpoint. The suspect exited the store and began running away on foot, at which time the
officers attempted to arrest the suspect. One officer exited his vehicle as the suspect was running towards
him. The officer could see a pistol in the suspect's hands. Several orders were given to the suspect to stop
and put his hands up and get on the ground as the suspect was at a run and closing on the officer. The officer
then discharged his weapon at the suspect. The suspect was struck several times by the gunfire and taken
into custody. First aid was given to the suspect until he was transported to an area hospital by the Houston
Fire Department. The suspect succumbed to his wounds at the hospital. No officers were injured during this
incident.
