Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On March 16, 2024, Officers responded to a burglary in progress of an apartment located at 3700 Legacy Drive Apt# 20102, Frisco, Collin County, Texas. Officers were informed that a black male later identified as, DONAVAN FAVORS, had his vehicle parked in a resident's garage with the resident's property which was removed from their apartment. FAVORS was confronted by the residents and retreated back into the resident's apartment and escaped out the back. While Officers searched for FAVORS it was later determined he commited another Burglary of a Habitation, an Attempted Vehicle Theft, Theft of a Firearm, and Burglary of a Business, all which occurred at the same apartment complex. FAVORS was observed by Officers running Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- across Legacy Drive, after which he attempted to force entry into a residence by breaking a window at 3760 Summit Court, Frisco, Denton County, Texas. While walking away from this residence FAVORS was contacted by Frisco Police Officers and began to evade detention by running on foot into the backyard of another residence. An officer attempted to stop FAVORS by using a taser, but was unsuccessful. FAVORS jumped backyard fences running from one house to another house. During this incident FAVORS entered the backyard of 5205 Lorraine Drive, Frisco, Denton County, Texas where he forced entry into the residence and pointed a firearm at the homeowners. The homeowners successfully forced FAVORS out of their house and FAVORS ran to the interior courtyard/driveway of 5167 Lorraine Drive, Frisco, Denton County, Texas. Frisco Police Officers located FAVORS by utilizing a drone and after he discharged his firearm. Officers attempted to create a perimeter around FAVORS' location. Officers gained information from Drone Operators that FAVORS was in possession of a firearm and was pointing the firearm at Officers. Officers on scene observed FAVORS point the firearm at them. Officers gave verbal commands to drop the weapon and FAVORS refused. FAVORS continued to point the firearm at Officers and Officers discharged their weapons at FAVORS. FAVORS began to discharge his firearm at Officers who returned fire, striking FAVORS. FAVORS succumbed to his injuries on scene.
