Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: • On June 27, 2018 Inmate Derek Duane Overby was booked into the Harris County for Motion to Revoke Parole • On Thursday, September 27, 2018, at 0935 hours, staff assigned to the 1200 Baker Street Jail (Second Floor, C Pod, Mental Health Unit) found Inmate Overby unresponsive and snoring, as if asleep. Medical assistance was summoned and Inmate Overby was subsequently transported by the Houston Fire Department to the hospital. • Thursday, September 27, 2018 Inmate Overby was placed on life support • Friday, September 28, 2018 (1820 Hours) - Inmate Overby was declared brain dead (family was present). • Tuesday, October 02, 2018 (0613 Hours) – Post organ harvest, Inmate Overby was declared deceased by Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- Dr. Taho Galvan.
