Officers subsequently located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description in the parking lot of Academy Sports + Outdoors, located at 9470 W. FM 1960. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the suspect seated in the driver’s seat. The suspect opened fire on the officers, who returned gunfire, striking the suspect while he was inside the vehicle. The suspect sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
