Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On 03/015/2024 at approximately 12:42 pm, Correction officers and medical staff discovered and responded to Medical Separation Cell 1 regarding a female subject who had completed a suicide attempt between checks using a bed sheet she tied into a ligature device. The ligature was tied around the television bracket attached to the wall. Once the incident was discovered staff entered the cell immediately and conducted lifesaving efforts until EMS arrived and took over medical intervention. The subject was transported to the hospital at 1:03 pm by EMS. Once medical staff exited the cell it was secured as locked by investigators. The subject was in a single cell unit and possibly dealing with withdrawal issues related to drug addiction. The Texas Rangers were contacted and when the subject was pronounced at the hospital the investigation for an in-custody death began. An autopsy was ordered and the results are pending at this time.
